23 (And the children of Israel went up and wept before the LORD until even, and asked counsel of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up again to battle against the children of Benjamin my brother? And the LORD said, Go up against him.)
9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.17 These things I command you, that ye love one another.18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
1 Then answered Eliphaz the Temanite, and said,2 Should a wise man utter vain knowledge, and fill his belly with the east wind?3 Should he reason with unprofitable talk? or with speeches wherewith he can do no good?4 Yea, thou castest off fear, and restrainest prayer before God.5 For thy mouth uttereth thine iniquity, and thou choosest the tongue of the crafty.6 Thine own mouth condemneth thee, and not I: yea, thine own lips testify against thee.7 Art thou the first man that was born? or wast thou made before the hills?8 Hast thou heard the secret of God? and dost thou restrain wisdom to thyself?9 What knowest thou, that we know not? what understandest thou, which is not in us?10 With us are both the grayheaded and very aged men, much elder than thy father.
13 There is a sore evil which I have seen under the sun, namely, riches kept for the owners thereof to their hurt.14 But those riches perish by evil travail: and he begetteth a son, and there is nothing in his hand.15 As he came forth of his mother's womb, naked shall he return to go as he came, and shall take nothing of his labour, which he may carry away in his hand.
